The Costa Blanca has been recognised as the healthiest region to live by the World Health Organization (WHO). With more than 300 days of a year of sunshine, you can enjoy agreeable temperatures the whole year through. The annual average temperature is 18º, which means that in the summer the temperature isn´t extremely high, and the temperature in the winter will be relatively warm.

These temperatures come because of the microclimate in the area. The Costa Blanca is cloaked by the warm Mediterranean Sea to the east and mountains just a few kilometers inland to the west. Both are string forces in keeping the good weather in and the bad weather out! More of that later.

Who is the World Health Organisation?
World Health OrganisationWorld Health Organization is a specialised agency under the United Nations umbrella. According to their website (www.who.org) the "WHO is the directing and coordinating authority for health within the United Nations system. It is responsible for providing leadership on global health matters, shaping the health research agenda, setting norms and standards, articulating evidence-based policy options, providing technical support to countries and monitoring and assessing health trends". They constantly monitor all aspects of health withing the UN.

What is a Microclimate?
Costa Blanca microclimateThe reason why there is a microclimate is because there is an inland mountain range in the from Murcia to Denia. This mountain range is like a kind of inland. The mountains vary in height but in general are between 1000 and 1500 metres high. This mountain range works like a buffer for weather influences from the sea and from the inland.
